Sash windows, Casement Windows

A former bottling store, built more than 100 years ago was sensitively converted and extended with the help of finely crafted timber windows from Salisbury Joinery.

Brewery House, located in the city of Portsmouth was built in circa 1910 and is in a conservation area and included on a list of buildings recognised for their particular character or historic interest.

After years of community use, in 2020 the local council approved ambitious plans to convert the building into 17 new apartments.  Working with leading building contractors, the building was carefully renovated to retain its historical character, whilst an additional contemporary floor was added to the roof to extend available space.  The result is a proud mix of historic and modern architecture, local craftmanship and an enhancement of the local area facilitating much needed housing stock.

Sash Windows

We supplied the twenty-two sash windows with modern spring balance operation for the ground floor. Being 2185mm high they allow a lot of natural light to brighten the apartments. These windows integrate perfectly with the original architectural style of the property and complement the detailed brick facades.

The windows feature energy efficient 4-16-4mm double glazing, with face applied glazing bars in a classic 6 over 4 configuration, a traditional ovolo mould, trickle vents and polished chrome ironmongery.  Being made from Sapele hardwood and factory paint finished they will perform for decades to come.

Casement Windows

For the first and second floor of the original building our team of joiners crafted casement windows, also from Sapele and with 4-16-4 double glazing. These were hung on friction hinges and fitted with secure espagnolette locks, factory paint finished and fitted with polished chrome bulb-end stays and fasteners.
